The Asus N50Vn is touted as the world’s first Eco-Notebook by its manufacturer and utilizes a specific ionizer to energize oxygen and then generate a large number of negative ions, which apparently produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost daytime energy. Quite a tag line for a notebook, N50Vn series is suppose to provide health benefits, as well as computing functions to the average user. It is equipped with NV9650 1G VRAM that provides graphic performance supporting most of 3D applications and high-end games.
The notebook features a 15.4-inch LED panel, Hybrid Power4Gear functions that provides efficiency or high performance, ASUS “Express Gate” that enables users to access the Internet, instant messenger, Skype, online games, music, photos and more in 10 seconds when the system is powered on. The N50Vn also receives the Dolby Home Theater Certification and is pre-installed with the ALTEC LANSING Stereo Speaker that makes it a mobile multimedia. The notebook comes with carry bag and optical mouse. ASUS utilizes In-Mold Roller Technology in the design of this notebook, which creates a scratch-resistant panel that helps retain sheen after prolonged use. The notebook boasts a streamlined exterior with shiny metal-like inlaid patterns inspired by modernist art-deco. The Asus N50Vn also features Super Hybrid Engine which consists of the Power4 Gear Hybrid application and the Energy Processing Unit (EPU). The Power4 Gear Hybrid application facilitates the deployment and usage of power according to the users’ preferences in relation to the specific tasks that they need to perform, while the EPU detects the users’ power requirements and makes the necessary power adjustments. These features can provide energy saving effects up to 35% and prolongs battery usage on a single charge. The notebook also features Smart Bootups in 8 Seconds and Fast Internet Connectivity with Express Gate. This built-in operating system enables ultra fast boot up for access to a host of most commonly used features, including web browser, instant messenger, Skype, photo manager, music player and online gaming. Another feature of the Asus N50Vn is the quick logons through Facial Recognition which detects the user’s face and logs on without any intervention from the user. Other feature include One-Touch Multimedia Access (which is a row of backlit touch-capacitive buttons located at the top of the keyboard serves as intuitive and convenient point of multimedia control), built- in Air Ionizer that helps clean the air around the user of allergens and germs, but also promotes air-flow and circulation, and RF Biometric Fingerprint Reader sensor that reads the fingerprint pattern as a security feature.

It supports Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset +ICH9M and is powered by up to 4GB DDR2 800 MHz SDRAM via two SODIMM socket for expansion (32-bit operation system’s limitation, will only show 3GB; 64-bit operating system will not have this issue)

The notebook also supports optional built-in TV-Tuner and Hybrid TV Tuner (Analog+DVB-T). The notebook supports Genuine Windows Vista® Ultimate operating system.
