Dell was just back in court for their selling defective laptops case. The defective laptops in question are Inspiron 5160 and 1150 laptops. Dell is facing claims that they knowingly sold these laptops despite the fact that they were defective. The case opened in October 2006 when three Dell laptop owners filed suit against Dell charging them with “misconduct in connection with the design, manufacture, warranting, advertising and selling of the affected computers.” These three buyers complained that their laptops’ cooling systems were poor. They also noted that their power supplies and cooling systems failed hastily under normal use. And lastly, their batteries would refuse to charge and when they do, the batteries will charge for a short time only. Dell did do the necessary repairs but charged the customers for it. The case was initially dismissed in 2008 as the plaintiffs refused to settle the matter. Then these laptop owners filed for an appeal to which the case reopened and this time the judge sided with them. What will happen in the end, only time and the judge’s decision can tell.
