
The Lenovo ThinkPad T61 is a 14-inch notebook that includes Intel’s Centrino Core 2 Duo CPU, onboard Turbo Memory (for boosting access times), and 802.11n Wi-Fi. The notebook features Intel’s Active Management Technology, allowing the IT department to manage the system from afar, even when it’s in sleep mode or powered down. The Lenovo ThinkPad T61 is designed in the ThinkPad’s signature black boxy form factor, with consumer-friendly features such as optional Webcams and media card readers.
The notebook is retailed at a price of $1,399, and it comes with a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor, Intel Mobile 965 Express chipset; 2GB, 667MHz DDR2 memory capacity, a 100 GB hard disk drive that spins at 7,200 rpm and Intel GMA X3100 graphics card. It comes pre-installed with Windows Vista Business. The T61 features a wide-screen display, and features a chassis that is reinforced with an internal roll cage, replacing the traditional solid magnesium alloy cover. The notebook also comes with a small A/C adaptor which provides lighter portability for the whole unit. The portability of the notebook is further enhanced by sturdy steel hinges and a shock-mounted hard drive. True to Lenovo fashion, the T61 also features both an eraser-head pointing stick and a touch pad, each with its set of mouse buttons. The 14.1-inch wide-screen LCD display offers a 1,440×900 native resolution. One major feature the Centrino Pro ThinkPad T61 is the inclusion of Intel’s Active Management Technology, where the IT department can remotely fix, update, or recover the system after an OS failure (as long as the notebook is connected to the company network, even in sleep mode). The 128MB Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M graphics card support and integrated Intel X3100 GPU is said to be able to provide the notebook with longer battery life when running high-powered applications. The system has a two hours and 29 minutes usage time on a DVD battery drain test, with the included six-cell battery.
